Chen, Nehwal, Boe/Mogensen suffered early exit

A series of surprise colour second round of Japan SS as some frontrunners bite the dust.

The reigning World Champion Chen Long succumbed surprisingly to his junior compatriot Tian Houwei in straight-sets. Giant-killer Tian has mammoth task and needs magic moment to overcome the badminton maestro Lin Dan who disposed his long-time foe Lee Chong Wei in convincing style. Out of prediction that INA has secured 1 semifinal spot through MS, the youngster Ihsan Maulana Mustofa will challenge his senior Tommy Sugiarto who edged out home hero Kento Momota in thrilling match. At lower half of draw, we'll see the on-fire Viktor Axelsen as favourite to eliminate Korean qualifier Lee Dong Keun tomorrow and an interesting clash between last year French SS winner Chou Tien Chen v Indian #2 Parupalli Kashyap.

The worst result for Indian jewel Saina Nehwal in 2015 who failed to manage quarterfinal here, stunned by former JPN #1 Minatsu Mitani. A rematch of recent WC quarterfinal is on course, the invincible Carolina Marin v Wang Shixian, both players have been involved in marathon match against home players at R/16. Three former champions and defending champion still march on, Li Xuerui will take on Akane Yamaguchi while Wang Yihan againsts Tai Tzu Ying. 1 semifinal slot of this category has been guaranteed by home ladies, Mitani v Nozomi Okuhara.

Top seed Lee YD/Yoo YS is going into last eight smoothly, next the defending champion will be tested by home pair Kamura/Sonoda who dumped former world champion Ko SH/Shin BC earlier. The battle of South East Asia pair will pit Pratama/Suwardi v Goh VS/Tan WK while two times world champion Ahsan/Setiawan will up against their arch-rival Fu HF/Zhang N. Both Endo/Hayakawa and Kim GJ/Kim SR have equal chance to advance as their head to head displayed. The Korean duo denied his more favoured opponent Boe/Mogensen to continue journey here.

Japan only has Matsuo/Naito in last quarter as their two leading pairs, Matsutomo/Takahashi and Kakiiwa/Maeda couldn't go further at homesoil. The Japanese WD will face Korean new scratch pair Chang YN/Lee SH. Two frontrunners at top half, Pedersen/Juhl and Maheswari/Polii will cross sword for semifinal berth. As predicted, three Chinese WD dominate lower half of draw, Zhao YL/Zhong QX v INA Premier SS champion Tang JH/Tian Q whilst the twin sisters Luo Y/Luo Y has Korean experimental combo, Chae YJ/Kim SY.

Lu K/Huang YQ couldn't fullfill their seeding position, lost to Korean Kim GJ/Shin SC who will meet another Chinese XD, Xu C/Ma J. Three remaining clashes in this discipline are going to the script, Zhang N/Zhao YL v Adcock/Adcock, Ahmad/Natsir v Ko SH/Kim HN and Danish duo Fischer/Pedersen who will oppose their nemesis Liu C/Bao YX.

LIVE TV (Court 1, 12.00pm local time) matches :

    1) Christinna Pedersen/Kamilla Rytter Juhl (DEN) v Nitya Krishinda Maheswari/Greysia Polii (INA)
    2) Chou Tien Chen (TPE) v Parupalli Kashyap (IND)
    3) Li Xuerui (CHN) v Akane Yamaguchi (JPN)
    4) Viktor Axelsen (DEN) v Lee Dong Keun (KOR)
    5) Hiroyuki Endo/Kenichi Hayakawa (JPN) v Kim Gi Jung/Kim Sa Rang (KOR)

RI was demolished by Okuhara yesterday : 15-21 21-13 3-21 RI needs to boost her stamina so she can last in 3set game. This has been a problem. She has to bulk up to boost her immune system so she can withstand illness and injury. I think she trains too hard and too long without proper resting.

If Lin Dan reaches finals,JOJ will drop to Number 5.Another exciting thing is Srikanth, who despite loosing in 2nd round of almost every superseries goes higher and higher in the rankings. He will be number 3 and could be Number 2 by the end of Korea Open

I don't see what's wrong with the tv schedule.bpretty good choices I think.

I am quite sure CL let Tian win, as he don't want to meet his biggest rivals too often.
