View Full Version : Yonex vs Hi-Tec
Matt Ross 08-01-2002, 03:52 PM Hi all,
As you probably know, the English badminton squad all wear the Hi-tec shoe, and i own a pair and i feel they are very comfortable to play in, yet Yonex shoes are quite popular. I was wondering, what is your best? Do you feel the quality of Hi-Tec shoes are anywhere near Yonex?
Matt
Derek S-H 08-01-2002, 04:23 PM Hi Matt
l have a pair of Yonex SHB- 95 shoes, and l can honestly say that they are the best shoes l've used so far. l don't know about all the egg-breaking nonsense that Yonex are claiming (see their website), but you do feel less muscle fatigue after play, they're very light, and they've improved my mobility enormously.
l know that Hi-Tec shoes are well recommended (various English international players endorse them), but in the same way that all the top players use Yonex rackets, they probably all wear Yonex shoes too.
Besides, if you use a Yonex racket, then you'll want to wear matching shoes for maximum pose effect and have your opponents trembling in awe!! (or laughter!)
Best Wishes
Derek.
and wear yonex shirt, pants, socks and wristband too!!
then people will think that you are sponsored by yonex!
they'll lost half the battle b4 u even step in the court!
UkPlayer 08-01-2002, 06:53 PM Matt, I don't think Yonex has anything over hi-tec particularly. If Archer & Robertson wear them then I think they're good enough for anyone who's not ranked at that level, and that's a lot of people!
I find HI-Tec a little too stiff on the torsion side, for me it is to do with the shape of my foot as to why I choose the shoe. However if I didn't have to take that into consideration I think I would pick up a pair of Hi-Tec because they are cheap, and they last!

Until you start to hit the shuttle 3/4 length of the court and into the net, and they end up realising that you spend all your money on the equipment and not the training. Then they have won the whole of the battle!!
C'mon seriously, you can own 1000 pairs of Yonex shoes, shirts and shorts and it won't make a blind bit of difference. Maybe it will make you feel a bit more comfortable, but it's not going to improve your game and it's certainly not going to intimidate your opponent! If you think a piece of equipment is gonna sort out your game then you're avoiding the work you have to put it.
30 quid on a Yonex Shirt? You must be joking, that's a months court time.
Or am I taking your post too seriously and you are just joking?

I would agree with you about the muscle fatigue of SHB95 but I picked up a pair of SHB55 Lite and I can say that these do exactly the same job in terms of fatigue. They are actually lighter than the 95's and I find they are not as cumbersome. Only thing which lets them down is that I think they are gonna wear through a bit too quick. They are marketed as a ladies or an intermediate shoe but I think this is balls personally. You have to have small feet to wear them 8.5 or less. Oh yeah they are 20 quid cheaper too!
modious 08-01-2002, 07:50 PM I don't know about Hi-Tech but I like Yonex Shoes.
Asics shoes are not bad as well. I think this pair looks nice!!

modious 08-01-2002, 08:06 PM Ok anyway, back to the topic.....
I find Yonex SHB shoes quite durable and very light as well. It has excellent grip... the Yonex AR shoe grip is not good!!
And I don't see Hi-Tech shoes being worn around in Singapore....

I think I'm turning into an old fuddy duddy because I could never wear those as they look too much like running shoes to me!!
Hi-Tec is a English company and they sponsor the English Badminton team.
