this thread is useless without pictures!!!

tell us what your initial impressions are! tell us how much you bought it for! tell what it feels like brand new out of the box! is it stiff? is it soft? is it light? is it heavy? is it wobbly? is it balanced? is it shiny? is it dull? the list goes on!

if you don't do this quick, we'll all grow bitter and pretend you're pulling our legs, and that this adidas lightster doesn't exist at all. :D

oh, and you gotta answer all those questions. but you just bought one. we didn't!

dang it poodle...lol :D ok this is the pic.

compare to my 9kv mizuno shoes it feels a bit tall/thick on the sole, but then again, my mizuno is 2 years old w/ all the cushion gone. I haven't had a chance to used it for playing. I'll let u guys know later. cost 89 bucks at sportcheck. no north american website on google. mostly from germany, poland, and checz republik. -> all said der perfekte badminton schuh, super leicht und super stabil.

it can feel more support on the mid section of the shoes compare to my old mizuno.

I want to know what the european member think/review of this shoes.

ahh.. saw a pair at sportcheck the other day..
feel a bit on the heavy side when i hold it in hand though..
they had the Mizuno volleyball shoes right on top and i
couldn't resist comparing the weight..
but for the price tag, i wouldn't mind give it a shot when my current shoes give in..

sport check has no discount on shoes on boxing day :(. the shoes has clima-cool, so basically the sole has a lot of holes (no really, it has holes with metal mesh on the bottom). I'm gonna used it for agility ladder training today.

compare to mizune 9kv volleyball shoes the initial feeling as I told you guys: a bit heavier and thicker. a couple of mm shouldn't be a problem, I supposed. my mizuno is 2 years old and has holes on the left from all the dragging and the left shoes sole is basically on its last legs.

I'll let you guys know again tonight aroum 10-ish PM EST

allright, update.

cushion: a lot of them. I feel that I can jump to the moon and land safely on this shoes...lol :D. it feels that I stand higher off the ground compare to the mizuno shoes, just a little bit.

lightness: good enough. lighter than my mizuno.

support: good. plenty of support around the arch area

coolnes/temp management: good. clima-cool. got lots of holes

I'm happy so far. we'll see what happened when I use it for playing. (no playing till the 2nd of jan)

sportchek at scarborough town centre has them.. for buy one second 50% off but i went there and they were out of small sizes ( i was looking for size 8.5) only big ones left.. the sales said this was an old model. i found it surprising to have adidas court shoes that actually said badminton on them... but the price is no longer 89.99 its 99.99.. only if you have big feet and plan on buyin 2 pairs of shoes. haha. does anyone in toronto know any other sportchek that has it?

I bought mine at STC (scarborough town centre) last wednesday. OK another review after using it for 21/2 hours non-stop consists of single games (8 games).

Result: the result supports the review I gave earlier. lots of cushion, light weight and comfy. ofcourse all review is subjective. you may find that it has different feeling/result.

overall review: great buy. I don't regret it.will buy another one 2 years from now or whenever this pair gives up.

I always feel reluctant to try adidas shoes cos their fore-foot shape is too narrow for me.
How about this one?

Just looking at the pic, I can say this pair of shoes will be very bad for the side of your little toes. Prepare to have your skin shreaded.

any comments about ankle support?

Double_Player
01-03-2007, 01:31 PM
ankle support: better than my mizuno

this shoes actually feels roomy at the toes area. unlike other adidas shoes (soccer/football shoes) that I've own which made me go 1/2 size bigger coz of it was so narrow for the size I want.

hmmm...thats cuz I bought the last pair of 8.5 that was available in the store :p!!

The shoes are ok...I found the cushion a little hard though...Aside the look is great, everything else is very plain..to me..the shoes worth 50$ ....but since is adidas and it looks good...i bought it for 100$+ tax =.=''

Its a re-hash of the Adidas Alphasys which appeared around 2005. The sole and midsole are the same, but Adidas designed a new upper for the Lightster, adding ankle support for lateral stability. The silhouette is practically the same.

I have both, since I loved the Alphasys I bought the Lightster as well when it came out. I recall Adidas calling the Alphasys a technical shoe with little frills. This design translates to a responsive and light shoe. I love the fact that the shoe does what its suppose to do, without the gimmickry and marketing BS.

If you're wondering why the sole pattern looks a bit weird, that's because the Alphasys was originally designed for handball and other indoor sports that requires forward, lateral, and pivoting moves.
