View Full Version : problem with shoe?
Jeff L 08-09-2001, 04:04 PM i noticed last night while i was playing that my big toe on my left foot starting to burn a little. When i went home, i looked at it and noticed i had a huge blister. i was wearing my yonex shb-571, does anyone seem to get blisters as well? this is my first blister ive gotten on my toe, and it really hurts when im lunging or running sometimes when i try ti get that extra push. Could it be the shoes? Or maybe this is a regular occurance?
they are very common. my two largest toe nails are permanently bruised, the nail will fall off, and then it takes months to regrow the nail. and then it will get bruised again.....
Byro-Nenium 08-09-2001, 09:57 PM It happens....... I bought a pair of shoes from the Royal Sporting House for about $30 SG dollars. Its actually considered cheap. But hey, i didn't really need such a good pair. Anyway, i agree with Kwun, i find that i get plenty of blisters and sore toes....
Not sure if it will work for you but what i tend to do is to tie the laces very tightly to prevent and jerks and stuff.
i know people who dont' get blisters and bruised toes. i don't know how they managed to do it.
i've always blamed my shoes. and i find that changing to a better fitting pair of shoes does makes a difference. however, a good fitting pair of shoes is difficult to find for me as i have strange shaped feet.
or it may be i have the wrong technique.
or may be the people who don't get blisters aren't playing hard enough? :)
shaun 08-09-2001, 11:39 PM lol i always get blisters on my feet as well.
within about 30 mins of rallying, i will have a blister start to develop and hurt.
but this happens EVERYTIME i play, and i get used to it...and now it hardly bothers me...i have calouses on my hands and feet now lol.
eew that sounds so nasty.
and recently i've gotten a blister on my hand...dunno how it happened, maybe i'm holding the grip too tight? does this happen to anyone else? i really hate it when i get them on my hands!
Abt the shoe stuff, i think a double socks would help with a good insole. If u can pls do change inot a very good insole.
We should understand that when adidas created teh fet u wear concept they just put the cushioning in certain areas. These are major pressure points that too for someone who is playing a sport which involves a lot of jumping and good fast bursts of speed adn fast change in directions.
I think i have seen a liquid that u can use that will take care of the blisters and then the best thing to do would be to remove the shoe after your game and relax your feet.
Probably u can avoid the sweat from staying inside and getting inbetween your feet and the insole.
Regarding the blisters in your hand -- It is either you are holding the grip too tight which is very unsound thing to do and what grip do u use.
Probably it is time to change your grip. If it is the towel grip then u might have change one every week if u play 5 days a week.
If it is the tourna grip then u might have to check the tackiness of teh grip and then buy.
U could also consult a doc abt how soft your palms are and what kind of grip u can use.
I hope this helps!

i think ive started to get blisters on my feet is because im playing much more agressive, but also this is the first time ive used badminton shoes, I usually play with my basketball ones. so im really not sure, but im just going to tape it up or something, or maybe try double socks, duno..
I use thin socks, and the problem solved.

shaun 08-10-2001, 10:14 PM yogesh, thanks a lot for the suggestions. i started to get blisters once my grip started to slightly wear out...but its not so far gone to the point that i cant use it anymore...so i really dont know what it is. i think it may be that i am holding it too hard although i dont find that is true, because if i did, i'd get much less power
Cheung 08-11-2001, 08:27 PM Interesting. I have noticed people who hold the racquet tightly get less power. I hold the racquet less tightly now and my shots have sharpened up considerably.
You shouldn't get blistered feet while playing. Maybe it is down to your technique and/or your court shoes. My tip is to wear two pairs of thin socks - that way your feet will not undergo so much friction.
Jeff L 08-12-2001, 04:19 AM well before i just played with my basketball shoes, no problem there
TrunkZ69 08-12-2001, 04:51 AM cheung, i thought we are suppose to hold our racket lightly until the very last moments before impact and then tighten our grips. I learned that once at a badminton clinic or somethign to that sort. Quite hard to pull off, esp. on clears and smashes, since im scared im gonna toss my rackets and knock my opponent out....:(
