This thread is only for Yonex racquets that YOU own.
This is not a thread for shopping enquiries.

Some fake rackets can be identified via their serial numbers. If you wonder if your racket is a fake, post them here so we can verify them for you.

The format of the serial number is:

1234567 311226XX

In additional to the serial number, you need to tell us:

WHO DID YOU BUY THE RACKET FROM?

That usually tells us if it is genuine or not.

Here is the template.
Cut and paste it into your post and fill in the details.
Every line is mandatory.
If you do not follow the template, your post will be deleted:

---->8---- cut here (include this line) ---->8----
racket model: Yonex XXXX XXXX
shaft serial: 1234567
cone code : 123456AB
source : shop name, location
price : US$???
---->8---- cut here (include this line) ---->8----

PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK THE ABOVE INFORMATION.

Read this article to understand what the serial number means:

Let me know...but do I really want to know? Maybe just to post the name of the person who sold it to me (don't worry, it wont be in this forum!)

Luc

I have checked in the information of your Yonex Nanospeed 8000 shaft Serial:6051022; Cone Date Code:210362CH (date=21 Mar 2006) to my information list of Yonex rackets made in Japan, its serial no. and date code are legitimate.

However you still need to inspect the other physical features of the racket carefully and compare the specifications to ascertain its total legitimacy or authenticity yourself.

Further to my post #1984 of this thread.
Pictures of the racket proved otherwise and fake racket makers can fake serial no. and date code perfectly.

That is why my disclaimer warning.

if it's too good to be true, then most of the time, it is. don't expect to get a high end product (especially yonex) to be sold for a ridiculously low price.

Questions which you should be asking to yourself.

- How much does the real NS9K go for?
- How much did you pay/bid for the NS9K in the auction?
- What does the real NS9K look like?

I think you will find out the answer soon enough.

so the serial # would be correct?

even if the serial/date code is valid, it does not necessarily mean that the racquet is genuine. have you even seen a genuine ns7k7 in person? i'm almost certain that if you compare with a genuine ns7k7, there will be differences if the one you bought off ebay is counterfeit. i guess you can post pics of the racquet you bought.

Hi Leehsim,
I went to Fradette sport ( Canada ) to repair the string on my racket , he saw some paint chip on the racket (11) in 5 month, he said you buy your racket on ebay (TH), it's a fake, he said he never saw a Yonex NS9000 with paint chip, what do you think. I compare my racket with the photo in badminton central, it's a real, it's not my first yonex and this one is awesome.

if you bought your racquet from sumai, then it is safe to assume it is a genuine racquet. the people at Fradette sport does not know what they're talking about. they are saying that so you will buy from them instead probably.

I actually had the same problem, in that I purchased an Armortec 800 OF from EBay. I did some research and checked out the information on the Yonex site. Check the Yonex lettering on the handle cap. You will want to pay particular attention to the letter "o" in Yonex. Also, I noticed that the paint for "Armortec 800 OF" on the shaft was not smooth, as it is on my other Yonex rackets.

I recently purchased 2 Armortec 800 DE rackets, and I couldn't believe the differences between the fake racket & and authentic ones.

I've seen this same exact serial numbers on ebay before. i think the seller was using a generic picture and he was selling counterfeit rackets. Also, i think you posted this in the "ebay watch thread". Although leehsim checked the numbers, you have to pay attention to his disclaimer, you need to inspect the racket because serial numbers aren't the only place to check.

robadam4
05-21-2007, 10:27 PM
I don't verified serial no. and date code of racket bought from eBay.
Why you said ? some fake rackets can be identified via their serial numbers. if you wonder if your racket is a fake, post them here so we can verify them for you.
It's don't mention you are not verified racket bought from ebay.
And in the template at Source (you asking ebay seller id (must include) ???
Why change the roules ???

jump17
05-21-2007, 10:45 PM
Actually, rules were change A LONG TIME AGO. The majority of the people who wanted to confirm their rackets got them from ebay, the rules were changed. Since there is a huge probability that these rackets were counterfeit (by just looking at the information provided ie: pics, sellers, etc), it gets tiresome to see the same thing over and over.

Also, leehsim is doing YOU a favor by checking the serial numbers. You have no right to demand that your racket must be checked.

There have not been reports of counterfeit CDs, so chances of it being counterfeit is none.

I am curious about the case because it is not the matching muscle power case. The case there is like third party case which could be seen in racket codes overseas, for instance SP.

well when i ordered my mp100 from sumai03 long ago, i got the yellow ultimum ti case. also i dont think chances of counterfeit CD coded rackets are not none, maybe rare, but most certainly not 0% just because there have been no reports. :)

Counterfeit! Notice how the picture on the top is a Nanospeed 9000, not the 7700 as advertised. Same goes for the final pictures. Also, note the PRICE of the item. The NS7700 came out recently and no way would a genuine racket would cost that little.

by just looking at the cone code, the date is 21st May 2004 but the shaft serial is 7xxxxxx! the serial number is too high for a racket with a date code from 3 years ago.

I believe MP24 is made in TW, which some lower end yonex are made from. They have their own starting point for the shaft serial, which is not a secret.

If you've been cheated (like me), help to warn others against the same sellers! We'll reduce their businesses by warning others and I reckon that's the best punishment for those sellers. If you would like to help, please post the identity of such sellers in the post below:

If you read on Ebay, the procedures are there how to claim. Just report him. If you also paid using PayPal, you can read the procedures there and report him as well.

It would not matter if you took off the cover or not because the deal was not legit in the first place.

I agree. This deal is not a normal legit process, and the seller surly did not treat you as a fair business partner. Therefore, you are the victim, and have every right to claim the lost. ;)

Hi All,
One thing I want to ask is how do you check the serial numbers of the racquets that we put up for checking? Do you have a list of 'genuine' numbers from Yonex or something? I understand the date codes are DDMMYXAA. Is there a source that you consult?
Cheers

Leeshim does but he only checks rackets which are not purchased on Ebay.

Another way to have your numbers checked is by contacting Yonex.

Dear all,

just bought 3 yonex rackets on Ebay, but all from private resellers with less than 200 transactions and at decent prices (60-100EUR), so not underpriced. First two new, last one used "in 5 trainings" but looks more used than that.

yeah- he agreed to pay me back 150, but he won't pay for the shipping back to china haha- i think it's gonna be a lot- so i'm thinking, i'll just get some money back and keep the racquets, kauz i don't mind playing with em- but i'm just wondering how much should i ask back to be okay

like, if i take back $50, then it'll be $100- i'll just think of it as $25 per racquet
but is $25 too expensive for these fakes? I remember my bro buying like MPsomething in vietnam and it turned out to be like $30USD - so yeah.. i'm thinking of telling him $50, what do you guys think?

The seller is one breaks the law, and you have every right to claim all your $$$ back. There's no negotiation, as the seller is caught on the spot. Tell him, full refund, or he can wait for lawyer letters and investigators.

i was looking at the buttcap in detail, but i the markings all seemed to appear real at first glance. i even checked it against pictures of a real yonex buttcap, and they seemed to match. http://www.badmintonrepublic.com/fake/Fake-English.htm (link to check some obvious signs of couterfeit)

i couldnt quite decide whether the grommets on the item listed were as per real racquet..what is your opinion on this?

the seller has sold several of these racquets in the past, and having checked his listings, i can see that each item has a unique laser etched serial number. All of the other telltale signs seem to indicate that this could be a real yonex..(except the price of course)

if this is a copy racquet, then it surely must be one of the better copies around..
if it is a genuine raquet, then it surely is a bargain.

what do you think?

It would be best if you stop with the 1 liner posts with a single question, it is wasting space.

You can look up what counterfeit means here (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/counterfeit).

You should research about how to determine a countefeit because there are threads which talk about it and it has been mentioned many times.

Somehow, I think the shaft serial is too high for the manufacture date.

So its a fake? I wish there were some detailed photos so I could compare. Looked at the yonex site and what i can gather is mine is a darker blue, nearly purple and some of the writing looks different

well, then i guess you'll just have to let it slide cause it'll be impossible to track him down.

sometimes the seller will give you a refund if you tell him that he's sold you a fake and will be reporting him.

Yeah finally the template is enforced!! Well I am sure, you can let the "include this line" slide - it is the info inside the lines which counts.

Ive managed to get the seller to agree to a refund when I return the racket, despite the seller trying to get me to keep the racket and offering me £15 paypal credit, then later a £20 credit.

Do I insist on payment first or just send it? Its a PO Box address.

Im so confused, it looks so real! Its the right length, got the closer holes at the shoulders of the head, paintwork looks purple rather than blue, the 'nanoscale elastic Ti' logo is on the side of the head not next to the strings. The red band doesnt quite line up into a V. The yonex logo on the cone hologram smudges off when you wipe your finger over it.

Its really convincing, cant find any pictures of a JP model to compare it to.

The genuine racket does have a purple/blue look and does look more purple than blue.

'nanoscale elastic Ti'

This is the real JP. Also notice the grommets? Look at yours then you will notice the differences. Note: The cloth case in the picture also comes with high-end JP rackets.

For the date code of 020461SP (date=02 Apr 2006) the valid shaft serial no. should be less than 6080300.
For the shaft serial no. of 5566148, the date code should be somtime around 25 May 2005.
IMHO your Yonex nano speed 6000 is a fake.
