View Full Version : Anyone who has broke racquet due to untimely hit on shaft. lightsmash 12-14-2004, 01:11 AM please state what lbs the string was strung at. :p charzord 12-14-2004, 02:56 PM Shaft or frame? It is really hard to actually hit the shaft of the racket, since it is thin and unless u intentionally hit it, you never really do get to hit it. Also, even if you hit the shaft, it wouldn't be a hard hit since the distance the shaft is swung at is very little compared to the racket face. Dill 12-14-2004, 05:05 PM Shaft or frame? Read the title slowly, look out for the part that says "SHAFT" :p chickenpoodle 12-14-2004, 05:06 PM what does the string tention have to do with shaft durability? newbi 12-14-2004, 08:56 PM hm i have hitted the shaft a few times.. but far from hard enuff to BREAK the shaft.... charzord 12-14-2004, 09:05 PM Read the title slowly, look out for the part that says "SHAFT" :p Unless you launch your racket from a cannon or something right against a birdie shooter, I really dont think you can swing as hard to kill your shaft :p...........or at least my arms not strong enough. Maybe a weakened slim 10 with arnold swarcheneggar swinging the racket :D (cant spell his last name). newbi 12-14-2004, 09:20 PM Unless you launch your racket from a cannon or something right against a birdie shooter, I really dont think you can swing as hard to kill your shaft :p...........or at least my arms not strong enough. Well even if u miss hit,i dun think u will miss so much and end up hitting the shaft... chickenpoodle 12-14-2004, 09:54 PM maybe if i m using a fake.... then it will snap??? :p not even a properly constructed fake... maybe maybe maybe... if the racquet was first exposed to flashes of heat and cold to turn it all brittle, repeated abuse, and finally a dose of super super high concentration hydrochorlic acid. all this, before a mis-hit on the shaft. by a real powerful guy! Arcos 12-14-2004, 10:04 PM if the string tension is very high, the string bed of cos will be very hard. When string bed is hard, then the shaft will bend more when u execute a smash or any high power shot. fatigue will set in and the shaft may break. at least thats wat i think :p tony d 12-14-2004, 11:22 PM I have broken a RSL aerometric slim 10 ( yonex slim 10 clone $50 US bought:mad: :crying: for) on the shaft but not by hitting the shuttle on the shaft . It was due to the shuttle hitting the top of the frame. The racket had collided with another racket and had put stress on the top of the shaft (a crack). The racket was strung at 25 lbs with my favourite (bg 66). I doubt it if any one has broken a racket solely by the birdy hitting the shaft. Mr. Anderson 12-15-2004, 01:34 AM There's a Hong Kong Junior National Juniors team player in our school who smashed so hard today that he broke his racket! (Strings snapped, and took the frame with it) |
