I just been trying out the SHB 95.
Before I was using the Mizuno LBR. Although pretty comfortable and light, I did twist my ankle a few times. I attribute this to the extreme width of my feet which made things a bit unsteady.

SHB 95's are very wide. In fact, they are one of the first badminton shoes to fit my feet width. They are also extremely comfortable.

One problem I have is adapting the wider sole width to moving around court. It feels a tiny bit more bulky with slightly lower foot speed but that should go away with more badminton!

Good shoe....pity they are at the higher end of the price range.

I agree that they're nice shoes, but I've had a problem with the SHB 95 that I haven't had in a badminton shoe before. I keep banging my right toe on the floor and I just can't work out what on earth is going on to cause it. Perhaps it's the extra width. I'm just about to lose the nail on my big toe as a result.

On the other hand the grip on these trainers is superb. When all the other players are complaining about the floor being slippery I am gliding around the court with ease.

B4 yonex realised the fact that It was important to provide plp with Wide shoes New Balance were pioneers in the field of Wide feet.

I think the Shb 95 is 2E only. U dont get 4E! I have tried the 12.5 US(which is my size)2E model and it was okk.

I think the Nb Indoor shoes are great and they weigh something like 400Gms.

The worst thing abt yonex is that they have such a bad reputation when it comes to quality. We have to face the Brutal reality that YOnex are good racket manufacturers but not shoe makers.

I am using a pair of Head 5000. They're meant for squash, but I liked them so much because they have a ridiculusly wide sole. They seem heavy at first, but you'll get use to them then they're lighter than anything. The great thing abou these shoes is that they're lasted me for about 6 months, unlike the other brands that had an average life of 2 to 3.

i am using the SHB-95 too. and yes, it fits my wide feet very nicely. according to the markings on the shoes, they are 3E.

the shoes are very cushy and light, the sole breaks up fairly easily. despite all these, after nearly a year wearing them, i noticed that the rest of the shoe is holding very well. they must be the longest lasting pair of shoes i have used.

how much are they in HK nowadays?

Out of curiosity, does it really make a difference to where the rubber of the soles originate? I know some companies get the rubber from South America and others from South East Asia. But does it really matter, or is there a real advantage?

The SHB95 are quoted at HKD480 in Emmy.

Good question about the rubber soles. I guess in SE Asia, there's a high chance it comes from M'sia.

I got these shoes and they are excellent, much better then when i had the Hi-Tec adrenalin Pro, in these i got the gel shock absorbers in them aswell and that again makes it nicer to play with.

Umm cant remember the exact name but sorbothanes does ring a bell...

basically they are normal insoles made of a shock absorbing gel, and are green in colour, might be the same as you have.

I have that same problem with the big toenail of the leading foot. It basically happened after I started playing a lot more over the last two years. It also coincided with using the Mizuno LBR shoes. Before the problem, I was playing about twice per week.

I think the cause is repeated pressure forcing the big toe against the roof/front of the shoe when stopping.

Are SHB95 Stiff or flexible?
Bending them and moving them they seem to be stiff.

When using them, I don't feel the shoe to be overtly 'stiff'.

Forgot to mention, about the nail falling off....that time the problem started, I also started to play singles again. Wonder if it is a problem singles players get more than doubles.

I have the same toe problem with my SHB95. The insole in the shoe is very flimsy. I changed the insole to SOJ Arch Plus which has extra arch support. That seems to stop my feet from hitting the front of shoe when I play singles.

I've been advised that you should leave 1/2 an inch between yout toe and the front of the shoe.
Do you guys do this?

I prefer a snug fit -- or even slightly too small. To me, it's worth a week of discomfort to have a perfect fit for the rest of the shoe's lifetime. The shoe usually expands a bit after being used for some time.

If the shoe is slightly too big as brand new, then your feet will probably be sliding around in it after some time... and that will cause blisters.

I did the 1/2" rule for my present shoes on the advice of a foot specialist. But my nail has been damaged already so it will take some time( a few months ) to know if the nail improves.

Here's something interesting about the SHB 95.

I had a week and a half break from badminton and when playing again, the pressure on the big toe of my right foot was pretty bad. It happened in two sessions. In fact, I'd forgotten to wear my ankle support.

When I remembered to wear the support, the discomfort was much, much less.

What I think happened was that the ankle support artificially increased the width of my foot, making the top part of my foot 'jam' more snugly into shoe. Then my foot wouldn't slide within the shoe so much and the pressure on the big toe would be relieved.

The standard show width is D.

My size is 13 and I prefer D. if i can Get 12.5 2E or 12 4E then they will fit.It is because i haev wide feet that i need to choose 13 d as it will fit me better than 12 D!

It is difficult ot get Widths in India and The US. NIke comes outr with snug fit and New balance with Widths.soo...

For the same size, the AR-95 is a little wider than the SHB-95.

Cheung: is your SHB-95 "Made in China" even though it is a Japanese import? How is the "gutter" on the soles holding up. Mine were tearing apart after about 20 hours.

:)

Yes, I got 'made in China'. Although I do have the tear (just like yours after approx the same hours), the shoe is actually still holding together.

is it only the Asian models that have the tear? the US models have a completely different sole. anybody care to comment on those?

hi to everyone

this i my first post on the forum.

I reacently saw a pair of shb-95 mid on the yonex (japanese) website. They come in a red/silver colour and has a higher collar.

The problem is that it seems that they only sell this style in japan. If anyone can tell me where I could buy a pair in Canada it would be helpful, preferably in the ottawa area.
